Business Development/Membership Sales, Full Time
Position Summary
The Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce’s Membership Manager is primarily responsible for increasing visibility for the Chamber and membership facing occurrences including selling new memberships, as well as retaining the existing membership base, and membership events. The goal of this employee is to understand a member company’s needs related to chamber involvement so that they can gain the most value in membership and in turn, renew their annual membership and sponsor/participate in more events.
Responsibilities
• Schedule meetings with current members to better understand their goals and expectations in membership
• Respond to member inquiries about various events, activities and programs offered through the Chamber
• Execute annual membership retention and outreach plans through meetings, phone calls, emails and social media
• Assist in the development and execution of programs to provide new value for members
• Assist in the planning and execution of chamber events.
• Must be able to sustain long event hours
• Must be able to lift and move upwards of thirty pounds
• Proactive outreach to new businesses and prospective members to grow membership base
• Serve as staff liaison for Ambassadors
• Assist members in the different methods that they can utilize membership for marketing purposes
- Assist with yearly membership plan
- Assist with sponsorship sales
- Assist with our ongoing job board
• Utilize ChamberMaster database for tracking contacts, leads, follow up and communications
• Provide reports to the Executive Director on ongoing retention, outreach and membership growth
• Administrative support (answer phones, greet walk-in guests)
- Process new member applications and perform membership activation process
- phone calls, upcoming event registration, orientation, new member photo, etc
This position reports to the Executive Director of the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce. The Membership Manager may be asked to perform additional tasks not included in the responsibilities listed above at the discretion of the Executive Director.
Desired Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
• 1-2 years business development or community development experience preferred but not required
• Strong interpersonal communication skills

Compensation
$21-$26 per hour. Annual opportunities for increases based on performance reviews.
