Lead Custodian

Colombiere Center: 9075 Big Lake Road, Clarkston MI 48346 is looking for a Lead Custodian to join our team.

• Currently offering a $1,000 hiring bonus (paid out based on company policy).
• Pay Range: Based on experience offering between: $16.92- $19.68 an hour, This position is also eligible for pay increases after the first 90 days of employment and 6 months based on passing proficiency benchmarks.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Custodian will train other custodians and act as team lead when performing room set-ups, floor care, A/V equipment setup, housekeeping and maintenance tasks as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor. They will strive to promote the overall cleanliness and appearance of Colombiere Center.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

(Other duties may be assigned.)

1. Must be able to perform floor care independently with efficient results. This includes buffing, stripping and waxing hard floors, carpet cleaning and other powered floor equipment.

2.. Train other custodians in floor care, room setups, A/V setups, and all other job duties that are regularly assigned to the custodians.

3. Act as a team leader when doing room setups and working on projects. This includes directing other custodians when assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor to do so.

4. Performs routine duties as assigned by Housekeeping Supervisor on a daily basis, which could include cleaning and disinfecting resident and public restrooms and shower rooms.

5. Sets up conference and meeting rooms including A/V equipment.

6. Cleans offices and conference rooms.

7. Washes windows and hard surfaces.

8. Keeps specific areas in the building stocked with adequate supplies.

9. Performs emergency housekeeping tasks when accidents occur.

10. Moves tables, beds, dressers and other large furnishings.

11. Inspects furnishings for wear and defects and reports to supervisor.

12. Assists other housekeeping employees to meet cleaning deadlines when necessary.

13. Assists maintenance as needed when assigned by supervisor.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS [Education/Skills/Abilities]:

1. High school education preferred.

2. Literacy reading and writing English.

3. Ability to train and lead others.

4. Ability to follow oral and written directions.

5. Pleasant, tactful, and courteous.

6. Physical strength and health to a degree necessary to perform required job duties.

7. Ability to cooperate with other staff, supervisors and guests.

8. Ability to remain calm under unusual or stressful situations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Frequent bending, lifting and turning of torso.

2. Work for long periods of time in standing position.

3. Required to push cleaning and laundry carts long distances.

4. Daily exposure to dirt, dust, and mildew.

5. Daily exposure to cleaning chemicals—aerosols, liquids and powders.

6. Frequently works against deadlines to complete assigned work loads.

7. May be required to work weekends and overtime when assigned or needed.

8. Frequent moving of furniture.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.92 - $19.68 per hour
