Position Summary
The Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce’s Event Coordinator is responsible for planning and managing events of the chamber including smaller networking events as well as larger community events such as Concerts in the Park and Taste of Clarkston. The Event Coordinator will also be responsible for creating a sponsorship structure and for soliciting our members to sell those sponsorships. This employee will handle all event planning, logistics, budgeting, and execution.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute all chamber events.
- Must be able to sustain long event hours
- Must be able to lift and move upwards of thirty pounds
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and venues
- Assist members in the different methods that they can utilize membership for marketing purposes at our events
- Generating Sponsorship Structure and Sales
- Coordinate Vendor booths
- Promote Volunteerism
- Process member vendor applications and sponsorships
- Create registration types and rates for each event
- Coordinates and schedules small event planning (Mixers, BOBs, Workshops, NMO, Non-Profit Round Tables, YPN Schedule)
- Handles registrations and check-in, walk-ins, and event set up
- Plan both large and small-scale events
- Confirmation of all booked locations/special guest speakers
- Collection and organization of host applications for BOBs/Mixers
- Clearly communicates, covers, and promotes all events with membership through social media (create event, updates, photos)
- Networking and event reminders within membership (social media activity, eBlasts and email reminders)
- Administrative support (answer phones, greet walk-in guests)
- Provides reception cover, answer the door and welcome members and visitors
- Volunteer Coordination for all major and minor events
- Reaching out to members to sponsor specific events
- Maintain and update record of individual volunteer contact info for all major events
- Creates networking activities for BOBs/Mixers
- Responsible for membership engagement through events.
This position reports to the Executive Director of the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce. The Event Coordinator may be asked to perform additional tasks not included in the responsibilities listed above at the discretion of the Executive Director.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- 1-2 years business development or community development experience preferred but not required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Compensation
$42,000 - $48,000. Annual opportunities for increases based on performance reviews. Potential commission structure based on sponsorship sales and select event performance.
