Position Summary
To provide support for the operations of the youth soccer program. The individual in this capacity has specific duties relative to their job, in addition to, the general rules, policies, procedures, and expectations of the Department.
Position Description
Although every detail of the day-to-day job may not be included in this job description, the Youth Soccer Referee will be expected to perform the duties required to administer a successful program that provides a positive experience for the participants. Keep in mind; enthusiasm and communication are key!

Reports to: Soccer Supervisor and Recreation Coordinator
• Have knowledge and understanding of all Federation International Football Association (FIFA) and Independence Township Parks, Recreation & Seniors rules. (Training Provided)
• Be respectful to the sport and its participants. Treat everyone equally.
• Help the Soccer Supervisor as needed.
• Provide and wear your own FIFA regulation uniform.
• Show up to work at least 20 minutes prior to scheduled game.
• Check fields, goals, and player equipment.
• Bring whistle, watch, a quarter, pen, and league rules to each game.
• Keep score for games (Fill out scorecard completely)
• Must be at least 14 years of age.
• Responsible for enforcing all COVID-19 safety protocols and procedures.
• Attend Referee Training Meeting and Orientation.
• Review the emergency response and severe weather procedures.
• Attend Referee clinic and meetings.
Must have a basic understanding of the game and must have experience either playing soccer or refereeing soccer in the past.
• Meet with the soccer supervisor before and after games.
• Be visible and “active” on site. Develop working relationship with coaches. Be approachable.
• Provide soccer supervisor with game cards and accurate payroll for yourself including number of games worked or hours worked in which the Department has to pay. Payroll will be due according to the schedule provided.
• Help notify coaches with updated information.
• Provide a written evaluation at the conclusion of the season.
• Pay rates vary depending on the age of participants in the game worked.
Days and Times (Most games last 1-2 hours)
Monday-Thursday (Friday Make-ups) - Game start times are 5:00-7:30pm.
Saturdays - Game start times are 10am or 12pm.
